Make Valentine's Day about Gratitude
14 February 2022
Valentine’s Day can be a difficult time after a divorce or separation. Every time we turn on the television or log on to social media, we hear stories about love and those who have it. It can make us feel isolated to see the happy relationships around you when your relationship didn’t last. While getting roses and sharing a romantic dinner is nice, there are other ways to enjoy this holiday.
Many inspirational leaders remind us of the importance of practicing and recognizing gratitude. Although there are often many things to be grateful for, it can be easy to overlook the everyday instances around us. We get so busy that we forget to stop and smell the roses.
Or, take the time to be thankful for all the love we have in our lives. Practicing gratitude, especially on a difficult day, will help you focus your attention on the ones that make you happy. Doing so may help you become healthier both mentally and physically.
Life after divorce
After a divorce, it can be challenging to imagine finding your happiness in others. But, the truth is that our relationships are something to be grateful for. Most relationships we have in our life are not romantic.
These relationships can be great sources of comfort when we are going through a hard time. Until we learn to stop and think about the love of friends, family, co-workers, pets, and the higher power that makes your life rich each day, we tend to take it for granted.
By recognizing these important things in our lives, we gain a greater appreciation for the role that they hold in our lives. And that is what is truly important.
Make Valentine's Day About Gratitude
Perhaps, instead of being miserable or feeling lonely, you should make Valentine’s Day about gratitude. This Valentine’s, give thanks to those who make your life full all year long. When you look around, no matter how heartbroken you are, you will find love, even on Valentine’s Day.
It can be all too easy to fall into the traps of Valentine's Day. But the day of love does not have to be about romantic love. It can be for the friends, family, and special people in your life that mean the most to you.
Most importantly, it can become about appreciation. Because you can't show those important to you too much appreciation.
